What a whirl wind December was....I opened the blog and can't believe that I haven't been in touch since December 15th!!! Now that we are into our second week back at school, teachers and students are getting their grooves back!
We have jumped right into learning as though we never left. We are focusing on number building, quantity, reviewing letters and sounds and now applying that knowledge to the high frequency words that are found in the books we read. Winter has also been a great focus with freezing water experiments, snow filled sensory bins, painting on tin foil, and writing about winter activities.
We have prepared a Snuggle Up and Read program for all kinders to participate in. Please look for them in the near future in your child's backpack. Hopefully this Wednesday :)
Lastly, I have copied the PLAYDOUGH CLUB LIST for parents as a reminder. Thanks again for helping us keep fresh playdough in the classroom.

Home Made Playdough Recipe
You Need…
2 Cups of All Purpose Flour
2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
½ cup of salt
2 Tablespoons of Cream of Tartar (found in the baking isle - it’s really a powder!)
1.5 cups of boiling water (add in increments until texture is just right)
food colouring
HOW TO...
In a large mixing bowl mix the flour, cream of tartar, salt, and oil. Next, add food colouring TO THE BOILING WATER (stir). In increments, add coloured boiling water to the other ingredients in your mixing bowl. Stir continuously until it becomes a sticky, combined dough. **Add sparkles, spices (cinnamon, pumpkin spice), mint extract, hair conditioner to jazz your playdough up (all optional!!)** Allow it to cool down then take it out of the bowl and knead it vigorously for a couple of minutes until all of the stickiness has gone. * This is the most important part of the process, so keep at it until it’s the perfect consistency! * If it remains a little sticky then add a touch more flour until just right. And...Voila!!!
